Plasma Injections

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) offers a tested approach for treating chronic sprain and strain injuries. The procedure involves injecting the patient’s blood into the chronically damaged ligament or tendon.
We Accept the Following Insurance Plans.

What studies have shown...

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) induces the production of new collagen by the fibroblasts, bone, and cartilage cells at the site of the injection, rebuilding the joint cartilage and strengthening injured ligaments and tendons. This new collagen is naturally incorporated directly into your existing cartilage and ligaments, making them thicker, more reliable, and more elastic.

A small amount of the patient’s blood is spun down in a special centrifuge.

Which highly concentrates the platelets in the blood. The resulting platelet concentrate is then injected directly into the damaged portion of the ligament or tendon. The platelets release substances known as growth factors that lead to improved natural tissue healing.

How many treatments are necessary & how often is this therapy administered?

Responses to treatment vary based on the underlying condition. Most people require 1 or 2 injections. Each set of procedures is spaced at least eight weeks apart. There is no limit to the number of treatments you can have, and the risks and side effects do not change with the number of injections. Physiotherapy is strongly recommended after or between treatments to maximize benefits.

How soon can I go back to regular physical activities?

PRP injections help regenerate tendons and ligaments, but it is not a quick fix. This therapy stimulates the growth and repair of muscles and ligaments and requires time and rehabilitation. Through regular visits, your doctor will determine when you can resume daily physical activities.
